We have known Rottan for a long time and our connection came effortlessly through a shared aesthetic and a similar way of approaching style. It was such a pleasure to finally meet her in Japan this past September.

Rottan is a true icon in Japan, with a loyal following and a deep, instinctive understanding of the apparel world. Her store is a reflection of her vision: alongside her own brand, she curates a selection of labels – including one of our favorites, Made by Sunny Side Up – as well as a unique range of vintage pieces she personally selects. What has always impressed us about Rottan is her ability to style and mix pieces with such ease, making everything look incredibly cool.

We discovered YENOPE during our pop-up in Kobe, where she introduced us to the brand and its philosophy. A coined word, YENOPE stands between yes and no – a way of dressing without overthinking, without strict rules or commitments. Wear what you like, as you like. YEP for someone, NOPE for someone else – if it feels right to you, that’s enough.

It immediately resonated with us. YENOPE proposes a collection of unisex clothing that embodies this mindset. Made in Japan.

Bringing Rottan and YENOPE into the PeppinoPeppino collective, by offering a selection of her pieces on our online store, felt like the most natural next step.

We are also very proud to be among the first to present YENOPE outside of Japan.

Jean Dessel is a long-standing leather goods brand from Bergamo, rooted in artisanal work and a very hands-on way of doing things.
It all started in the late 1960s, when Orlando Italia began working with leather after spending time in Paris and London. What began as a small craft grew into a workshop and store in Bergamo Alta and, over time, the brand found its place across Italy and beyond.
Today, the company is run by his son Filippo, who has taken over while keeping things very close to how they’ve always been done.
We’ve known Filippo for a while now and we started working with him a few seasons ago. It all felt quite natural. We seem to share a similar way of working – a small operation, quite busy and closely involved in everything we do. He’s also a really nice guy – and dealing with someone who is always correct, honest and genuinely passionate is not so common.
And with the kind of fits we tend to do, we did need some proper belts and suspenders – well made and done properly.

Let’s be honest: words like remade and vintage are used quite a lot these days. What once felt new and exciting sometimes risks losing its meaning along the way.
But every now and then, you come across a brand that reminds you what those words were originally about. TK Garment Supply is one of them.
The brand comes from Fukui, a Japanese city with a long textile tradition and generations of skilled artisans. In the early 1990s, Hiroyuki Takeuchi took over his father’s fabric wholesale business and began importing second-hand American clothing – long before remake or rework became commonly used terms.
Working closely with vintage garments led to an interesting realization. Old clothes carry history, but they also come with imperfections – unusual sizing, stains and signs of wear. Instead of seeing flaws, Takeuchi saw possibility. By carefully repairing and reconstructing these fabrics, he and his team found a way to give them a new life.
At TK Garment Supply, every piece begins by dismantling old textiles and rebuilding them into something new. Nothing is wasted and no two garments are exactly the same.
What we appreciate about TK Garment Supply is that none of this feels like a trend. It simply comes from a genuine respect for fabric, craftsmanship and the stories materials carry with them.
We’ve known TK Garment Supply for quite some time, so it feels very nice to finally find a little place for them in our online shop.

Originally created as a guide for our retailers, Denim, Our Way introduces the essential elements behind every pair of jeans: fabric weight, selvedge
and non-selvedge constructions, left-hand and right-hand twill and wash treatments.

Denim is a living fabric. It evolves, fades naturally and becomes personal over time. Small variations are not flaws – they are part of its beauty.

Through this introduction, we invite you to discover the technical foundations and the true nature of our denim.

So yes – it’s back.
We will release two issues per season to be gifted to our customers and retailers. Properly printed, meant to be kept, not scrolled.
Online, it becomes a permanent journal. Not just about us, but about other brands, stores, books, music and other things we find worth sharing. Our website isn’t only a place to buy clothes – it’s also a place to read something whenever you feel like it.
Think of it as the PeppinoPeppino house. Clothes on one side, magazines on the table.

Royalties is a French sock brand based in Paris. They know socks (they’ve been doing this for years), they make them ethically in France, and they make them beautiful – think Ivy League fraternities meet British elegance with a very French wink.

Also, fun fact: Simona has known Timothée Pic, the founder, since she first featured Royalties back in the PeppinoPeppino Magazine days. So yes, this is a bit of a reunion

Japan has always been a little obsession of ours. We’ve admired it from afar for years – the aesthetics, the attention to detail, the way even the simplest things feel poetic. It’s one of those places that constantly inspires us and sneaks into our work in one way or another.

So finally being there – with our own pop-ups – felt a bit surreal. This time we had the chance to present our FW25 collection in Tokyo and Kobe.
The Tokyo pop-up was organized by Shimizu-san, the owner of Compass, while the Kobe one was hosted by our dear friend Mika.

The story with Shimizu is honestly too good not to share.
It all started when I wanted to buy a bag from Sunny Side Up on his website (yes, sometimes I’m the customer too!). I wrote to ask if he could ship to Europe and with the help of Hiro, our trusted bridge in Japan, we managed to communicate.
Long story short: Shimizu turned out to already know PeppinoPeppino – and was actually a fan of the brand! So I got my bag, and he got our jeans for his store.
Sometimes the universe just writes the best stories.

As for Mika – we go way back. Like, before PeppinoPeppino-the-brand back.
It was still the time of PeppinoPeppino Magazine, when we were just playing around with ideas and aesthetics. Mika and I always shared a similar taste and we even did a few collaborations together.
Seeing her again in person, after all these years, was such a joy – like meeting an old friend you somehow always pick up where you left off.

The pop-ups themselves were such a mix of emotions: excitement, gratitude, jet lag and a good dose of “is this really happening?”.
Selling denim in Japan – the denim land – honestly felt like a dream.
And seeing people coming by, some to shop, others just to say hello, was the best part of all.

We came home full of memories, new friendships and that kind of inspiration that stays with you for a long time.
Japan, we’ll definitely be back.

One of the most difficult things in this world saturated with images, products, and information of all kinds is to think ‘outside of the box’ and be – somehow – innovative. This is a challenge that we know very well at PeppinoPeppino.
When we first met Luciano and Piero, owners of Mr.HotDog at Caffè Paszkowski in Florence a few months back our creative senses were tingling.
Piero, who define himself ‘proudly analogic’, presented to us their prints proposal on an old school clip board.
We flipped through the intentionally wrinkled pages, charmed by the thinking behind it, realizing we spoke the same language.
Their proposal was ironic, unconventional and perfectly align with our DNA.
During the first meeting is when we also realized they are the founders of the iconic brand Joe Rivetto, which revolutionized the streetwear world in the early 2000’s.
We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to do this collaboration with them. We are sure that this is the first of many capsules to come. We have found the perfect creative partners who are capable to interpret our philosophy and spirit through images and prints. And their process is truly unique.
Piero and Luciano use American deadstock t-shirts which are hand-treated with natural pigments to give them a used and worn-out look. The prints are made in their laboratory located in Umbria which is a fun and chaotic museum of vintage pieces. So special and different from the soulless mass production.
With them we even went a step further taking advantage of Luciano who is an artist and has personally – one by one – hand drawn both the overalls and the suspenders with denim artworks on two of the t-shirts in our capsule.
As small business owners, we are sometimes too busy to remember to have fun – with Piero and Luciano we are back to that with a lot of laughs!

“Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite sublime plan”
unknown author

We – at PeppinoPeppino – believe things happen for a reason. We believe in choices not chance.

In the 90’s, Simona, recently arriving in San Fransciso from Italy, applied for an internship at ABFit. The owner, Howard a life long resident of the bay area, decided to hire her. These choices started a journey that came full circle last month, twenty years later, in the place they first met.

Abfit, a long standing staple of San Francisco, occupies the same North Beach storefront, 1519 Grant Ave, as it has for decades. It offers a curated collection of some of the coolest brands available today.

A new addition to Abfit’s North Beach presence is in their Evolving Space location, directly across the street from the store. This is were Howard and team host pop up events for a selection of brands they know and love. Lucky for us, PeppinoPeppino is
one of thse brands.

PeppinoPeppino was honored to be invited to ABFits’ Evolving Space in September 2024. The experience was surreal. Twenty years after they first met, Howard and Simona were reunited. It was a full circle moment for both of them, now veterans of
the industy.

During the weekend we met some beautiful people and we had some great conversations. Though we most enjoyed witnessing the love the locals have for Howard and the entire team at ABFit. In between all that – we managed to sell a few pieces of the Fall Winter 24 collection. It was a moment we will cherish for a long time. All made possible by the choices Howard and Simona made twenty years ago.
Well done, guys.

After years of operating out of a small apartment in Amsterdam, we moved the business to Italy in May 2022. This was the moment Peppino grew into a fully functioning business.

Our new headquarters, located in Viareggio were finally separated from our home.

At last, we had a proper space to keep the stock, display our favorite inspirational pieces and welcome our business colleagues. We even have a fancy coffee machine.

Peppino is still young in years but we are growing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!!
