Sustainability has become a bit of an empty marketing buzzword. We prefer to talk about intelligent and responsible choice of materials and washing techniques.
We produce in Italy using Italian raw materials. From initial concept to final quality inspection, Peppino Peppino product begins and ends in Italy.
We still operate as “mom and pop” business. Through our localized product development and production in Italy, our more responsible wash techniques, the vegan back patches and deadstock materials, our collections are curated with a conscience, fostering longevity and delivering classic, everlasting products that gets better with the everyday use.
Our philosophy is producing “just enough” – we produce small batch with a great attention to details – enough to fulfil the needs of the market and to make our business running.
OUR DENIM FABRICS
Denim is in our DNA. We forged partnership with Mills who we believe deliver sustainable and high-quality raw materials.
We collaborate with mills like Candiani and Pure Denim to produce fabrics with reduced environmental impact.
Candiani offer includes our core organic cotton selvedge denim and our seasonal 7,2 oz lightweight denim made from regenerative cotton. A relatively new sustainable cotton category, Regenerative cotton is a type of cotton that is grown using regenerative agriculture practices. Regenerative cotton is a special kind of cotton grown in a way that takes extra good care of the environment and the soil. This type of farming, called regenerative agriculture, focuses on making the land healthier, the water cleaner, and the whole ecosystem happier.
Pure Denim who produces our core 11oz deep indigo fabric uses the “Smart Indigo” technique to dye denim responsibly.
What is Smart indigo? “Smart Indigo” uses only indigo pigment, caustic soda, water and electricity: it is an electrochemical process, so it does not use hydrosulphites.
All indigo is insoluble in water: and traditionally used dyes which are based on reduction through hydrosulphites, which are often extremely polluting and hazardous to health.
The Smart-Indigo solution is the most responsible and independent way to dye denim.
These responsible material choices ensure durability and minimal environmental harm, two things which are important to us at Peppino Peppino.
